Originally released on the Playstation 3 in 2008, followed by subsequent releases LittleBigPlanet 2 also on the Playstation 3 and a Playstation Portable game – it was not so much a game as it was a creative experience, allowing players to use a diverse number of tools and decorative items to produce side-scrolling platformer levels which were limited more or less only by their creativity.
Over these slightly less than four years since the game was originally released, you could easily log in every day to find new levels for you to check out – ranging from the generic platformer to different genres that have been adapted into the games mechanics. Today it was announced that the seven millionth user-created LBP level was published to the game servers.
To celebrate, Media Molecule released the above infographic detailing the games history since its first unveiling at GDC 2007 to more recent milestones such as the 7 Millionth level being published and the upcoming games in the franchise (LBP Vita and LBP Karting).
How will these new games improve the franchise? How long until they are celebrating hitting double digit million levels published? Only time and user creativity will tell….
