Several years ago Final Fantasy III was known as “That Final Fantasy game that was never released out of Japan” until 2006 when it was released as an enhanced port on the Nintendo DS. However that would not be all for the game, with it recently being announced that Square Enix would be bringing this game to the Playstation Portable. The PSP release is based on the Nintendo DS remake, but features proper 16×9 support along with additional extra modes, auto battle mode and the ability to switch between the original and new soundtrack.
This release has only been announced for Japan however, and there is no word on if we will be seeing this with an English localization.
