In a recent batch of details revealed for the upcoming release of Phantasy Star Online 2, Sega have unveiled the pricing for the game along with an additional console you can play on. Of most interest to everyone, you will be happy to know what unlike games in the Phantasy Star Universe series (Which was both B2P and P2P), Phantasy Star Online 2 will be free to download and free to play, and will use a micro-transaction system to pay for some items.
Along with the PC version and the recently announced PS Vita version, Sega will be releasing a smartphone (iOS/Android) version of the game, which will be a simpler game experience with different social elements. While data is interoperable between the Playstation Vita and PC versions of the game, the Smartphone version will be separate.
