GPotato to Close Prius Online Servers on the 27th March 2012 1

GPotato to Close Prius Online Servers on the 27th March 2012 2In a shock announcement, GPotato (A distributor of online games to various regions around the world) have announced that they will be ending their service of and shutting down the Prius Online servers near the end of the month from the 27th March 2012. This means that the servers will be going down only a little bit past a year since launch. Before I provide you with my opinion on the announcement, here are just a few bits of information for current players:

1. All cash shop items will be reduced to 1% of their original price from the 9th March to 27th March
2. Compensation (Both in other gPotato game packages and bonus gPotatos) can be claimed through a compensation page between the 9th March and 10th April. This page can be accessed HERE.
3. Servers and Prius forums will be closed on the 27th March.

This is disheartening as while I personally haven’t dedicated all that much time to the game, it was actually one of the games I openly sought out to play before the English announcement on the TW Servers – “Hi to anyone from the old Fairy Tail guild!”. While GPotato’s release was initially marred with the announcement of region restrictions, effectively blocking anyone from the ANZ / SEA regions from playing (From my perspective), the company quickly took action to rectify this and in my opinion delivered a solid game release and one that I thought was received quite well.

Alas, while there might be a number of reasons for this games English server to abruptly close, at the end of the day it seems it will be… so enjoy the last few weeks to finally reach the level cap, spend a miniscule amount of GPotato’s in order to dress up your anima in adorable cash shop clothing or heck, do a final speed run of the game.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below or on the official thread for the games termination HERE.
