Codemasters Unlesh Brand New DiRT Showdown “Massive Damage” Gameplay Trailer and Reveal More Information on the Game

Featuring cars, trucks, vans and hearses crashing, bashing and smashing to victory… Codemasters and Namco Bandai Partners (in Australia / New Zealand) today unveiled a brand new DiRT Showdown ‘Massive Damage’ gameplay video. The game itself being due for release in May 2012 for both the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 consoles.

The ‘Massive Damage’ video features work-in-progress gameplay footage and reveals the destruction-focussed game modes to feature in DiRT Showdown. In demolition derby event Rampage, eight racers take no prisoners, earning points for spectacular smashes on their rivals’ vehicles and eliminating other drivers in gladiatorial automotive auditoriums. DiRT Showdown’s Knock Out mode is also revealed, featuring drivers using their cars as weapons to force opponents off a raised platform in a chaotic battle for domination. Eliminated vehicles can re-enter the fray by racing up ramps and jumping back onto the platform, where points are earned for knock-outs, hits and owning the ring alone.

 The company claims that the game will deliver a new world of competitive and combative racing, letting players boost, trick and smash their way to finals on this chaotic tour of motorised mayhem. The game will take you across several environments from San Franciscoto Miami, London and Tokyo to name a few. A total of 50 different events will be playable in the game, which are spread over four different championships.

There will be three categories to the games thrilling action-sports racing. Players will be able to use nitrous to blast past rivals and navigate across otherwise hazardous terrains, a vehicle damage system which allow gamers to smash and crash their way to victory and Hoonigan events which to simply put… feature stunt parks. This is alongside split-screen multiplayer, eight-player online racingand offline quick-fire party games.
