When I think of Etrian Odyssey, I recall what could easily be one of the most infuriatingly difficult RPG franchises on the market – with its “Drawn your Own” map system and many many opportunities to have your party members killed. While the past games have all been on the Nintendo DS, it turns out that according to a recent announcement in this weeks Famitsu magazine that Etrian Odyssey IV (Aka. Sekaiju no Meikyuu IV: Densetsu no Kyojin) is now in development by ATLUS for the Nintendo 3DS.
The game is slated to come with a casual mode, which hopes to welcome newcomers to the series with a bit of leeway over the normal “very challenging” mode. The games development staff include Daisuke Kaneda as the Diretor, Nizou Yamamoto, Shin Nagasawa and Yuji Himukai as head of environment, monster and character designs and finally Yuzo Koshiro for Music.
The game is currently slated for release on the 5th July 2012 at a RRP of 6,279 yen. The official website for the game can be viewed HERE.
