I usually make it well known my first ever game was Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, but I don’t often discuss my first ever console game. It was Christmas of… 1996/1997 (I know it was Christmas and one of two of them), and me and my brother got a joint present of a Nintendo 64 and… you guessed it! Mario Kart 64. I still remember the fights we had between who would play the game as we only had one controller… at least for the first week until our screaming at each other resulted in a second one being bought. But I digress, over the years we have both followed the Mario Kart series and out of all other Nintendo games, have put the most hours into each of the games then any other game.
Mario Kart 7 is a bit of a risky move in my opinion, as you are essentially shunning away a community of Wii gamers which totals more then 85 million consoles, for a portable console that while might have some great technology behind it, only has an install base of around 5 million consoles. But never-the-less, the game looks impressive and who knows – it might just be the thing that the console needs to give it a boost!
