It is not over for Demons Souls Server Support in North America

-

a1 Demons Souls First Impressions and Initial ReviewYour adventures with the many heroes of the parallel universes of Boletaria are not over just yet. Every couple of months, especially with the pending release of Dark Souls – it seems that people come up with rumors that all servers will suddenly shut down. Demons Souls was a surprisingly good success for ATLUS, selling several times their expected sales, and it doesn’t seem like they will be shutting the game servers down anytime soon.

Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at ATLUS USA had this to say on the matter:

“While it comes at significant cost to us and although it has been over two years since the game revolutionized the notion of multiplayer and online functionality in an RPG, our commitment to the game and the fans that turned it into an incredible success remains as strong as ever.  While the reality is that one day the servers will ultimately close due to operation and maintenance costs, that day is not today, nor will it be this year.  We’re excited to continue to support one of the most significant, influential games in recent memory into its third year, and we’re planning to hold more tendency events for our loyal, beloved fans.  If you’ve been waiting to try Demon’s Souls or held off with concern that it was too late to join in, the truth is that there’s never been a better time to see what all the talk and awards are all about.”

Also there is rumour of a Flamelurker guarding the server room, and from having played the game through many times, was most probably the hardest out of all the boss characters… although ATLUS staff do not like discussing it.

Online features include the ability to invade players worlds as either a friend or foe, PvP capabilities, the ability to leave red text on the floor alerting other games to what may (or may not if you are devious) ahead of them and the ability to watch the deaths of other games to ensure you do not fall for the same traps they do.

The game is now retailing at an MSRP of $19.99, which is a really good price if you are undecided on purchasing the title. They have also hinted at white and black world tendency events during the holiday season for those who are interested. These will be announced at a later date however.
