Fate/Extra to be released by Aksys Games in North America 1

Fate/Extra to be released by Aksys Games in North America 2It was announced at Anime Expo 2011 today that Aksys Games had acquired rights to release the PSP Game Fate/Extra to North American audiences. This is a game that was released in July 2010 in Japan and was developed by the people at Type Moon (Responsible for the Visual Novel series) and Imageepoch. It is a Dungeon Crawling RPG similar to the Persona series with it mostly taking place in a High School environment and allows you to create a custom Male or Female character and one of three servants: Saber, Archer or Caster. It covers the Holy Grail wars however takes place in an alternate reality from Fate/Stay Night and in an artificial environment known as the Moon Cell, which through using a system known as SE.RA.PH, creates an artificial war.

Fortunately, I have had some limited hands on experience with the Japanese PSP version, so hopefully will be able to cover some of the features in a review, however the battle system uses a unique system of Rock, Paper, Scissors…. which to some may seem simple, but can get complicated at times. I haven’t played that far into the Japanese version, however I do eagerly await the chance to do a proper playthrough and review of the English version when this title is released later on this year.

Whilst there is no official English trailer as of yet, here is a preview video of the game, with the games theme song Rance Eroica, performed by one of my favourite Japanese music groups ALI PROJECT.
