Four young Queensland performers will share the role of Little Anastasia when the Broadway musical ANASTASIA opens at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre this month. Eva Boldery, aged 10, Kalina Kita, aged nine, Harvey Rose McClelland, aged nine, and Holly Murray, aged 10, secured the role following a recent local audition process.
They join a principal cast led by Georgina Hopson as Anya, Robert Tripolino as con artist Dmitry and Joshua Robson as army officer Gleb. Rodney Dobson will appear as Vlad, alongside Rhonda Burchmore as Countess Lily and Nancye Hayes AM as the Dowager Empress – quite some Australian powerhouses to share the stage with..
Inspired by stories surrounding Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov’s rumoured escape during the Russian Revolution, as well as the 1997 Oscar nominated animated film, ANASTASIA follows a young woman named Anya as she attempts to uncover her past. Pursued by an army officer seeking to silence her, Anya recruits a conman and a former aristocrat to help her on a journey from the final years of Imperial Russia to Paris during the 1920s. The story centres on her search for answers, family, love and a place to call home.
ANASTASIA will be performed at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Lyric Theatre from 16 September 2026 until 18 October 2026. Ticketing information for the season can be found via the musical’s official website. Pending any future announcement, this is set to be the final leg of the musical’s Australian national tour – a collaboration between John Frost for Crossroads Live and Opera Australia.
