The Lion King Musical Set to Arrive at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in March 2027

Date:

Following the production’s Sydney and upcoming Brisbane seasons later this year, Disney Theatrical Group have confirmed that The Lion King is set to arrive at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from March 2027. With the Brisbane season set to conclude on 7 March 2027, I’d expect the Melbourne leg of the tour to commence a week or two after that date.

The current Australian cast features Buyi Zama in the returning role of Rafiki, with Nick Afoa returning to the production as Mufasa (having performed in the previous Australian tour as Simba). Other members of the cast include Daniel Frederiksen as Scar, Benn Welford as Zazu, Jamie McGregor as Timon, Rutene Spooner as Pumba, Aphiwe Nyezi as grown-up Simba and Emily Nkomo as grown-up Nala. The company will be complemented by a group of young local children in the role of young Simba and Nala.

An official waitlist has been opened for the Melbourne season, which can be found on the musical’s official website.
