In what is hopefully some good news for Australian musical theatre following a few cancellations over the past couple of weeks, it has been confirmed that citing strong early ticket demand, additional performances are set to go on-sale for the Sydney season of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical. New tickets for performances through to Sunday 10 January 2027 will go on sale from Wednesday 1 July.
The production is set to begin its strictly limited Sydney season at the Sydney Lyric from Saturday 14 November 2026, following its Australian premiere in Melbourne. Before arriving in Australia for rehearsals in early July, Broadway performer Will Swenson shared his excitement about reprising his role as Neil Diamond (Then) for Australian audiences.
“I’m beyond excited to be playing Neil Diamond in Melbourne and Sydney. Telling Neil’s life story through his incredible music is such a privilege. This will be my very first time performing in Australia, and I can’t think of a more thrilling way to make my Australian debut than in this beautiful production that means so much to me.”
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond, A Beautiful Noise follows the story of how a kid from Brooklyn became one of America’s most recognisable music figures. The musical features songs from across Diamond’s career, including “Cracklin’ Rosie”, “Forever in Blue Jeans” and “Sweet Caroline”. The musical positions his life story alongside other biographical stage productions such as Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, tracing his rise through the music that shaped his career.
Diamond also reflected on the Australian production and his connection with audiences around the world.
“Some of my most thrilling nights have been while sharing my music with audiences around the world,” said Neil Diamond. “A BEAUTIFUL NOISE has already had an incredible journey on Broadway and is currently touring across the U.S. and it’s an incredible honour to see it heading to Melbourne and Sydney. I hope Australian audiences enjoy the show as much as I have.”
The Australian cast is led by Will Swenson as Neil Diamond (Then). He is joined by Terence Crawford as Neil Diamond (Now), Ashleigh Rubenach as Marcia Murphey, Monica Sayers as Doctor, Alana Tranter as Jaye Posner, Tim Wright as Fred Weintraub and Tommy O’Rourke, Paul Hanlon as Bert Berns and Kieve Diamond, and Hannah Fredericksen as Ellie Greenwich and Rose Diamond. Also appearing are Rob Mallett as standby Neil Diamond Then, and Mark Owen Taylor as standby Neil Diamond Now, Fred Weintraub, Tommy O’Rourke, Bert Berns and Kieve Diamond.
The Beautiful Noise ensemble features Katrina Bickerton, Cameron Davey, Paul Leandre Escorrido, Matt Hourigan, Alana Iannace, Jerome Javier, Joshua Kobeck, Etuate Lutui, Anna Mallows, Jordan Malone, James Maxfield, Isabella Roberts, Sophie Tzioumis, Emma Wilby and Erica Wild.
