This coming January, a new production of Stephen Sondheim’s revue Putting It Together will play the Foundry Theatre in Sydney this January. Under the guise of a late-night black-tie cocktail party, the show aims to thread wit, charm and needle-point observation through a collage of Sondheim’s songs that probe love, ambition and desire.
The concept frames a tour of the composer-lyricist’s catalogue, packaging familiar numbers together with an intimate story that leans on ensemble chemistry and close-up storytelling. Audiences can expect a tight, party-length evening of standards delivered with fresh context.
The Australian casting for this production is set to include some notable names, including Caroline O’Connor, Michael Cormick, Nigel Huckle, Bert LaBonté and Stefanie Caccamo.
Producer Craig Donnell shared that assembling the lineup felt like a milestone for the project and for Sydney audiences.

We’re so pleased to be bringing Bert LaBonté back to the stage in between his film and television work. Nigel is returning from New York specifically to take part, and Stefanie has been touring the world in The Lord of the Rings. To have them all together on one stage in Sydney is a magnificent achievement.
