The 40th Anniversary Australian tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats arrived in Adelaide today, taking up a limited three week run at Her Majesty’s Theatre from Saturday 20 September to 12 October with no extension possible. Fresh from closing at Theatre Royal Sydney, the venue where the production first began its Australian journey – both for this season and the original tour 40 years ago – the tour moves to Adelaide.
Gabriyel Thomas leads the cast as Grizabella, with Todd McKenney appearing in the dual roles of Bustopher Jones and Asparagus the Theatre Cat, and classical performer Mark Vincent as Old Deuteronomy. Lucy Maunder joins as Jellylorum, Des Flanagan takes on Rum Tum Tugger, Jarrod Draper is Munkustrap, and Leigh Archer returns to Cats as Jennyanydots.
The company also features Sarah Bourke as Tantomile, Olivia Carniato as Demeter, Mia Dabkowski Chandler as Bombalurina, Tom Davis as Skimbleshanks, Ella Fitzpatrick as Jemima, Charlie Follows as Bill Bailey, Joshua Gordon as Coricopat, Chaska Halliday as Cassandra, Claudia Hastings as Victoria, Savannah Lind as Rumpleteazer, Jake O’Brien as Mungojerrie, Xavier Pellin as Mr Mistoffelees, Guy Pik as Carbuckety, Rania Potaka Osborne as Alonzo, Edward Smith as Admetus and Macavity, with Dominique Hamilton, Aimee Jones, Aaron Lynch, Joe Miller, Thalia Smith and Tod Strike as swings.
