A whirlwind of Shakespearean chaos is coming to Brisbane, as The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) takes over QPAC’s Cremorne Theatre from 15 May to 8 June 2025. This fast-paced, comedic spectacle, presented by QPAC, Woodward Productions, and Neil Gooding Productions, condenses all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays into just 97 minutes of high-energy satire, physical comedy, and improvisation.
Originally penned by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield, the show is known for its irreverent take on the Bard’s works, mixing historical drama with outrageous comedy. A trio of performers will attempt the impossible—bringing every Shakespearean play (and sonnet) to life in a single performance, complete with dramatic deaths, over-the-top romances, and an impressive number of costume changes.
At the helm of this new production is Brisbane-born actor and writer Darren Gilshenan (Colin From Accounts, Population 11, A Moody Christmas), directing a cast of comedic talents. Taking on the challenge of racing through Shakespeare’s repertoire are Amy Ingram (Pride and Prejudice, Fourteen, Cinderella), Stephen Hirst (A Very Naughty Christmas, Merrily We Roll Along, Macbeth), and Tomas Pocilujko (Murder at the Manor, Antony and Cleopatra, Plied and Prejudice).
Alex Woodward of Woodward Productions promises a production that will entertain both Shakespeare purists and casual theatregoers alike, stating:
