A new adults-only cabaret experience, LASSÙ, is set to debut on the Sunshine Coast for an (almost) month-long stint at Dalton Drive, Maroochydore from 16 May 2025 until 14 June 2025. Blending circus, spectacle, and a cosmic western aesthetic, the production promises an intimate and bold live performance under a bespoke big top in Maroochydore.
Set at the edge of the galaxy, LASSÙ aims to take audiences to a time when the saloon was filled with wonder. The narrative follows Rodeo Clown Rusty as he attempts to revive the magic of LASSÙ’s golden days, with support from space cowboys, alien drifters, and the renowned Rodeo Sisters. What makes this adults only, you may ask? The production claims to offer a “thrilling, risqué circus experience that blends modern spectacle with traditional artistry”, where audiences can “witness every daring feat up close”.
Creative direction is led by Mitchell Woodcock, a Helpmann Award-winning choreographer recognised for his work with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, and Meghan Trainor. Woodcock’s recent credits include Paper Dolls for Paramount+ and creative roles in major events such as The Voice, Australian Idol, and ceremonies for the ICC T20 and FIFA World Cups.
Seventh-generation circus performer and producer Merrik Ashton, who grew up immersed in circus culture, is behind the production. He expressed his enthusiasm about bringing the show to Queensland’s east coast:
Bringing LASSÙ to the Sunshine Coast is incredibly exciting. This show is something truly special—an electrifying, high-energy production that pushes the boundaries of live entertainment. I can’t wait for audiences to experience it.
LASSÙ will be performed at Dalton Drive, Maroochydore, with ticket prices starting from $73.40, including booking fees. Further details and bookings can be made via the production’s official website.
