Crossroads Live Australia has announced that Greg Page, best known as the original Yellow Wiggle from the globally popular children’s group The Wiggles, will take on the role of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the upcoming Australian production of the Broadway musical Annie. The production will open at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from 25 March 2025 before moving to Melbourne’s Princess Theatre in July 2025 and presumably other states from there.
A trained musician and accomplished vocalist, Page rose to prominence through his work with The Wiggles, co-creating numerous hit songs, television series, and live tours. If you were an Australian kid in the 90s like myself, or a parent of one, the songs he performed likely lingers in the back of your mind to this day. His transition to musical theatre marks a new chapter in his performance career.
Page will join the already confirmed cast of Annie, including Anthony Warlow as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks and Debora Krizak as Miss Hannigan. Mackenzie Dunn will portray Lily St. Regis, Keanu Gonzalez will play “Rooster” Hannigan, and Amanda Lea LaVergne will take on the role of Grace Farrell. The role of Annie will be shared by Beatrix Alder, Matilda Casey, Dakota Chanel, and Stephanie McNamara. Of course, they will be joined by a group of local youth in the role of the orphans.
Commenting on the casting, producer John Frost shared:
I’m thrilled that Greg as agreed to join the world of musical theatre to play FDR.
