After previously announcing their plans to bring Disney in Concert to the Sydney Opera House, MM Creative Productions has confirmed that the production will also be playing at the Arts Centre Melbourne Hamer Hall from Friday 21 March 2025 to Sunday 23 March 2025 across four performances. Following the Disney 100th Anniversary concert last year, this new concert will feature a collection of Disney’s most popular songs performed live by over 100 musicians from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and the MSO Chorus.
Directed by conductor Jessica Gethin, Disney in Concert will feature music from iconic Disney animated films such as Hercules, Moana, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, The Lion King, and Mulan, alongside a special symphonic suite including excerpts from Cinderella, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Peter Pan.
A cast of accomplished international musical theatre performers will headline the concert. Amy Manford, known for her role as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera and recognised as Marie Claire’s 2023 Creative of the Year, will lead the ensemble. Manford will be joined by Christine Allado (Hamilton, In the Heights), Nick Afoa (The Lion King, Miss Saigon), Joshua Robson (The Phantom of the Opera), and Ruva Ngwenya (TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, We Will Rock You).
Executive Producer Genevieve McCarthy expressed her enthusiasm for the Melbourne production, sharing:
We can’t wait to share this brand new, reimagined program with Melbourne audiences. Sydney, Brisbane and Perth experienced Disney 100: The Concert last year, and this time, Melbourne won’t miss out on the magic! Disney in Concert: Live at Arts Centre Melbourne will have over 100 artists and musicians on stage bringing to life the songs we all know and adore; it’s certainly going to be an emotional concert for Disney lovers.
Tickets for Disney in Concert: Live at Arts Centre Melbourne will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, with presale access available on Monday, 18 November for subscribers to MM Creative Productions and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Tickets will be available to purchase via Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
