MM Creative Productions and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra have announced the return of Disney in Concert to the Sydney Opera House from Thursday, 13 March until Saturday, 15 March 2025. This musical event will feature the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jessica Gethin, along with a cast of musical theatre performers and the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. The event follows the success of last year’s sold-out Disney 100: The Concert at the same venue.
Following last year’s sold-out Disney 100: The Concert, this 2025 season marks Jessica Gethin’s third time conducting Disney in Concert in Australia. Gethin will lead around 65 musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. The program will include songs from Disney films such as Aladdin, Moana, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, The Lion King, and Mulan, along with a special symphonic suite featuring music from Cinderella, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Peter Pan, and others.
Produced by MM Creative Productions in collaboration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the concert is set to bring a variety of Disney classics to life through orchestral and vocal performances. Co-producers Amy Manford and Genevieve McCarthy shared their enthusiasm for the new program, sharing:
We can’t wait to share this brand new, reimagined program with Sydney audiences. Disney in Concert: Live at the Sydney Opera House is going to be bigger and better than ever, with over 100 artists and musicians creating magic on stage.
Karl Knapp, Executive Producer of Special Projects at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, added:
The iconic music created for Disney holds a special place in the hearts of film and music lovers alike. Seeing these scores performed live with the incredible talent of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, and some of the best musical theatre singers this country has to offer will be an experience not to be missed.
Public on-sale of tickets to all performances are set to commence on Wednesday 16 October 2024 on both Sydney Opera House and Sydney Symphony Orchestra websites.
