Much like the Brisbane premiere earlier this year, Adelaide and Perth audiences will soon have their first chance to experience Disney’s musical theatre adaptation of the beloved animated feature film Beauty and the Beast next year. Following a tour which started in Sydney, travelled to Brisbane in February this year and has since called Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne home — this production of Beauty and the Beast the Musical will open at Adelaide’s Festival Theatre in May 2025, followed by a July 2025 opening at Perth’s Crown Theatre. This marks the first time the musical has been performed in either city.
For those eager to secure their tickets, a waitlist is now open via the official website. Adelaide pre-sales will commence on 18th November 2024, with priority access available to those who register before 15th November. Perth pre-sales will begin on 3rd December 2024, with priority access for those who sign up before 29th November.
Executive Producer for Disney Theatrical Group, Anne Quart, expressed excitement about bringing the show to these new audiences:
We are thrilled to bring Beauty and the Beast, as re-imagined by members of the brilliant original creative team, to Adelaide and Perth for the very first time. This beloved show and Belle herself are somehow as contemporary today as when they were first brought to the stage in 1994. Following in the footsteps of our productions of Aladdin, Frozen, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins, we cannot wait to bring this cherished story to two of our favourite Australian cities.
After debuting with the production from the beginning of its tour, the original 2023-2025 cast is set to continue on to the latter stages of the tour, including Shubshri Kandiah starring as Belle, Brendan Xavier as the Beast, and Rohan Browne in the role of Lumiere. Other cast members include Jackson Head as Gaston, Gareth Jacobs as Cogsworth, and Jayde Westaby as Mrs Potts.
This is one musical I can wholeheartedly recommend!
