Complementing the bevvy of other musicals they have touring across the country, Crossroads Live Australia has today confirmed that following sold-out season in London and an extensive tour of North America, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s acclaimed musical Jesus Christ Superstar will commence an Australian tour starting near the end of this year.
Jesus Christ Superstar will commence in November 2024 at the Sydney Capitol Theatre, the starting point of the original Australian production when it commenced in 1972. This will be followed by a national tour, with venues and states yet to be confirmed. The Australian production is being produced by John Frost and David Ian for Crossroads Live Australia, in association with Work Light Productions. Ticketing information will be provided as it is made available via the musical’s official website.
The version touring Australia will still feature lyrics and music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. but specifically is the production reimagined by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre where it originated and is helmed by director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Drew McOnie.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has created a fresh and bold new version of a beloved classic which will enthrall both longtime fans of the show and delight those seeing it for the very first time.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane and Superstar.
