Well ahead of the season commencing its month-long stint on their stage starting 13 October 2023, Hayes Theatre Co has confirmed the full cast for their production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s A Little Night Music. This casting follows the earlier confirmation that the company’s namesake, Nancye Hayes, would be performing in the leading role of Madame Armfeldt.
Playing the role of Desiree Armfeld is three-time Sydney Theatre Award winner Blazey Best (Miracle City, Gypsy). Returning to the stage as Frederik Egerman after his appearance in Emmy Award nominated TV series The Pacific, is Leon Ford (Tartuffe) while Melanie Bird (Jekyll and Hyde) plays his wife Anne Egerman. Currently playing Tobias in Sweeney Todd, Jeremi Campese plays their son Henrik Egerman, while Josh Robson (The Phantom of The Opera, Metropolis) and Erin Clare (9 to 5, American Psycho) play Count Carl-Magnus Malcom and Charlotte Malcolm respectively. Rounding out the cast are Kiana Daniele (SIX) as Petra and Pamelia Papacosta (Evita) as Frederika Armfeldt.
Commenting on the full leading cast announcement, director Dean Bryant expressed his happiness with the casting for A Little Night Music:
A Little Night Music is beautifully honest about the human comedy of finding the person to live our lives alongside. Sondheim and Wheeler’s creation is a gift to any actor, and I’m thrilled that the Hayes has assembled such a witty and passionate group to bring this story alive.
A Little Night Music will run at the Hayes Theatre Co from 13 October 2023 until 11 November 2023 inclusive, with eight performances planned for each week (2x matinee and 6x evening performances). Tickets will be priced from $79.00, with full booking information available via the official Hayes Theatre Co website.
