New Cast Join Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s For Its 2023 Australian Seasons

Ahead of the musical’s Perth and Brisbane seasons which are set to commence in the coming months, producer Global Creatures has confirmed three principal cast promotions and six new performers will be joining Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s Australian company.

The principal cast promotions includes WAAPA graduates and a member of the original Australian ensemble cast. WAAPA graduate James Bryers will step into the role of The Duke, a role he knows intimately as the principal cover of Duke/Zidler during the Melbourne and Sydney seasons. One of Montmartre’s resident artistes will be played by another WAAPA alumni, Jarrod Draper as Toulouse-Lautrec, who steps into the role from the orginal Australian cast ensemble. Original Australian cast ensemble member, Chaska Halliday will now play the role of La Chocolat, one of the “Lady M’s”.

Joining the cast as it tours outside of Sydney/Melbourne include Adam-Jon Fiorentino as the principal cover of Duke/Zidler, Joshua Russell as Christian’s cover and ensemble member, Alfie Gledhill as Lautrec’s cover and ensemble member, and Adam Lyon as another cover for Zidler and member of the ensemble for the Brisbane season. Nat Foti, Danielle Gibson, and Bree Christine Stephens will also join the ensemble rounding out the company.

While there has been some changes in the principal cast, many familiar faces will continue into the coming months. This includes Alinta Chidzey as the sparkling diamond, Satine, opposite Des Flanagan as bohemian dreamer Christian, with Simon Burke AO playing legendary club impresario Harold Zidler. Ryan Gonzalez plays Argentinian Tango dancer Santiago, while the club’s famed entertainers known as the ‘Lady M’s’ will be played by Samantha Dodemaide as Nini, Olivia Vásquez as Arabia and Christopher J Scalzo as Babydoll.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical will stop off next at Perth’s Crown Theatre from later this month, with a Brisbane season planned for the QPAC Lyric Theatre in May 2023, and an encore Melbourne season at the Regent Theatre starting August 2023.
