Presented by Oriel Group in association with Red Line Productions, it has recently been confirmed that Old Fitzroy Theatre (129 Dowling Street, Woolloomooloo) will be playing host to a production of I Am My Own Wife, a play originally written by playwright Doug Wright. This production is set to run from November 17th to December 5th 2015.
This is a one-man tour de force, featuring 30 characters which are played by Ben Gerrard, as he explores survival in Nazi Germany, morality and sexuality. Through these characters, he manages to piece together the story of Charlotte von Mahlssdorf, an elegant and eccentric 65- year-old German transvestite who, against all odds, survived two of the most oppressive regimes of the 20th century: the Nazis and the Communists.
This is the debut production for the Oriel Group, and also features Shaun Rennie as director, with Elise McCann (Matilda – Miss Honey) as producer.
Sessions to see I Am My Own Wife are being held Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30PM for its season, in addition to a 5PM Sunday session and an additional 3PM session on December 5th. Tickets can be purchased for $35.00 (Adult), $30.00 (Concession) or $25.00) Previews and Cheap Tuesday. Bookings can be made via the Old Fitzroy Theatre website.
This is a new post for The Theatre Sphere, the brand new theatre wing of The Otaku’s Study. Expect to hear more on this in the coming weeks.
