The Gold Coast is set to receive a new and updated Cultural Precinct in the coming years, with Stage 1 planned for completion in time for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Although construction will soon commence on the site at Evandale, it will be business as usual at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. With the site still open, albeit looking more and more like a construction zone as time passes, there is now an opportunity for local artists to make the construction fences more sightly.

A citywide invitation to artists has been issued today, as the venue seeks an inspiring and engaging design that will be on display for approximately 18 months across hundreds of meters of construction fencing around the site. If you are a local artist and think you have the skills to take part in this opportunity, you can find an information guide and more specifics on how to submit via the official The Arts Centre Gold Coast website.

The winner will be announced on October 23rd 2015, and receive $2,000 in prize money.

Destry Puia | General Manager of The Arts Centre Gold Coast

From the beginning of the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct project we have been committed to engaging with the artistic community in creating the city’s cultural hub. That is why we are searching for a local artist to showcase their talent from the very start of the Cultural Precinct building works.

Virginia Rigney | Senior Curator of the Gold Coast City Gallery

We were overwhelmed with entries to our Border Art Prize, with over 300 entries for the 2015 competition. This opportunity for a local artist’s work to be showcased in the public realm will highlight the abundance of quality talent here in our city
