Wicked Finishes Its Two Month Run at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC)

After impressing another set of crowds to songs like “Defying Gravity”, “Wonderful” and “No One Mourns the Wicked” for the past two months, Wicked: The Untold Story of the Wiches of Oz has now finished its run at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) – just one day shy of the centre’s thirtieth anniversary.

The popular stage musical will now be moving to the Crown Theatre in Perth, where it will begin another limited season beginning May 2nd 2015. Unless further legs are announced, this will be the final stage of Wicked’s second Australian tour.

While Wicked was faced with a challenging task of impressing audiences shortly after the four month run of The Lion King concluded at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre, it proved to be an enjoyable stage musical which served brilliantly as both a complement to its source material (The Wizard of Oz) and in its own right. Overall, Wicked received a ★★★★ / 5 in my March 2015 review, and while I might not have been convinced to see it a second time around, was well definately worth an afternoon or evening to see it.

The Lyric Theatre is now set to be closed off until May 27th 2015, when Dirty Dancing begins its approximately one month run at the venue.
