While Wicked will be holding its final sessions at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on April 19th, this will not be the only event being held at the venue on that day. QPAC have today announced that they are hosting a special 30th Anniversary Party which everyone is invited to attend.
To be held on April 19th from 1PM until 7:30PM, this celebration will fall just one day prior to the venue’s actual 30th Anniversary. It is planned for the party to celebrate “the things that make QPAC great; artists, audiences and life performance”.
Celebration events are planned for QPAC’s front yard; the Melbourne Street Green and QPAC’s Cascade Court. Events throughout the day will include live music, dance and children’s programs plus opportunities to get hands on and participate in the fun.
Some of the events on offer include back stage tours taken by Iain Audsley (Theatre Project Manager) and David Walters (Lighting Director), live entertainment from Chukale, The Sugar Shakers, Brisbane Bells plus a host of others, along with performances by Nunukul Yuggera and Wagga Dance Group. Children will also be kept entertained with an activity space organized by Imaginary Theatre. The day of celebration will be emceed by local theatre royalty Ian Brown whose works include Walking by Apple Tree Creek, The Valley Member, Live at Ric’s and Drunk & Disorderly.
For those 30 and under like myself and are thinking of getting into theatre watching, this is also a great time to nab yourself some discounts. For selected seasons spread over selected performances, certain major performance seasons in 2015 will have 30 tickets made available for just $30 – available exclusively to those 30 years or younger. Tickets are limited to two per person, are box office collect, and require proof of age of self and companion to obtain them on the day of showing.

We have some very loyal patrons who have visited us frequently from the day we opened till now. In our 30th anniversary year we are also planning for our future and it is an opportunity for us to invite the next generation of patrons to participate and reap the rewards of live performance; and perhaps start their relationship with us for the next 30 years.
