Pirates of Penzance to Begin at QPAC in One Week’s Time for Very Limited Season

-

To celebrate QPAC’s 30th Anniversary this year, the team at Harvest Rain Theatre Company will be holding a limited season of The Pirates of Penzance at the QPAC Concert Hall starting in one week’s time (19th March). To run until March 22nd, only six sessions will be held, concluding with a final session on March 22nd at 6:30PM.

The Pirates of Penzance is a Gilbert & Sullivan classic which has been performed in theatres around the world since 1887. This edition has been directed by Simon Gallaher, who is currently performing at The Wizard of Oz in Wicked in the hall opposite (Lyric Theatre). While Gallaher doesn’t seem to have a role in the performance (Which wouldn’t have really been possible due to scheduling conflicts), the role he undertook 30 years ago (Frederic) is being undertaken by Billy Bourchier. Other cast members include television personality Andrew O’Keefe as the Pirate King, John Wood as Major-General Stanley, Nancye Hayes as Ruth and Georgina Hopson as Mabel.

While I do have tickets to see this show, due to scheduling conflicts they are for near the end of its run. Therefore I am undecided if I will be posting up a review of it unless plans to take this Australia-wide are announced.
