JY for Kids, the middle-grade imprint of Yen Press, has announced the acquisition of its first picture book, Memen & Mori, by children’s book author Shinsuke Yoshitake.
The book follows siblings Memen, the composed elder sister, and Mori, the inquisitive younger brother. As Mori poses big questions—such as the meaning of life—Memen responds with humor and warmth, revealing that some answers may be simpler than they seem.
Yoshitake, known for his down-to-earth humor and unique illustrations enjoyed by kids and adults alike, has written several picture books that capture the imagination while exploring larger-than-life themes and questions. His previous works have received critical acclaim, including There Must Be More Than That!, which was included in The New York Times Notable Children’s Book of the Year for 2020 and the The New York Times 25 Best Children’s Books of 2020; The Boring Book, which was named a 2019 New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children’s Book of 2019. JY is thrilled to be the home for Yoshitake’s latest work.
Memen & Mori will be priced at $20.00 USD / $26.00 CAN, although an exact publication date has yet to be confirmed.
