For the fourth time in the companies history, North American manga publisher Vertical were in attendance at the annual Otakon anime expo. While they were there premiering a few of their new titles such as Helter Skelter, A Dog in Water and the 10th volume of Chi’s Sweet Home, they also came with an acquisition announcement.
At their industry panel on the Saturday event the company confirmed they had acquired the rights to Fumi Yoshinaga’s manga series What Did You Eat Yesterday? (Also known as Kinou Nani Tabeta? / きのう何食べた?).
The first volume is slated for release in March 2014 at a price of $12.95, with additional volumes being added to their release slate every two months.
Shirou Kakei, a straitlaced lawyer, cooks gourmet dinners for himself and his longtime gay lover, Kenji Yabuki, a carefree, hippie-ish hairdresser. The story is told through the lens of dinner preparation.
