Australian anime and film publisher Madman Entertainment have confirmed that they will be holding a one day only theatrical event for Parasyte: Part 1 on April 26th 2015. While locations and ticket sale dates have yet to be confirmed, and may or may not have very limited screening locations, those interested in this film may want to write it into their calendar.

This 2014 live-action film is based on the original 1988 – 1995 manga written by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which was also recently adapted into the Parasyte – the maxim – TV anime by Madhouse. It has been directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who has previously worked on The Eternal Zero and Space Battleship Yamato. A second film is set to be launched in Japan on April 25th 2015.

PARASYTE: PART 1 tells the story of Shinichi Izumi, an ordinary high school student who is attacked by an alien parasite – a mysterious worm-like creature which penetrates the ears or nose of an ordinary human, attaching itself to the brain and eventually taking over the entire body. Whilst Shinichi is able to fight off the parasite before it reached his brain, it remains within his right hand.

Shinichi Izumi and the parasite now live as one. They both come to understand that if one dies, then so will the other. In a bid to survive, they join forces to fight against the threat of other parasites.

It is currently unknown when a home video release for Parasyte: Part 1 will be available in Australia.
