Capcom’s Breath of Fire video game franchise is not up there with Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest in terms of brand recognition outside of Japan. Even though I consider myself quite the RPG aficionado, and granted they were all released before mt gaining a love of the genre; I haven’t played any of the five console games released between 1994 and 2003. If you aren’t like me and have fond memories of any or all these titles, then this upcoming release from Udon Entertainment may be of interest.
The North American publisher of artbooks, manga and comics have this morning confirmed plans to offer a hardcover release of Breath of Fire: Official Complete Works. Covering all five instalments in Capcom’s foray into fantasy RPGs, this is due to be a design compendium for anyone who appreciates the artwork and/or thought-processes that went into conceptualising and delivery of the game’s characters and their world.
Breath of Fire: Official Complete Works will feature character designs, rough sketches, game covers, pinups, character profiles and creator commentary. This is a reprint of their formerly out-of-print artbook by the same name, and isn’t an extended version of what was initially published.
Coming in at 192 pages in length and a price of $49.99 USD, Breath of Fire: Official Complete Works will be available exclusively in its hardcover format from 5 May 2020 through Amazon and selected artbook retailers. If you want to guarantee your copy, pre-orders are open via Amazon at a reduced price of $34.99 USD.
