Udon Entertainment Cancel Release of Toxic Vol.1

-

Udon Entertainment Cancel Release of Toxic Vol.1 1It always kind of sucks when a company has to cancel a release, and this is the case with Udon Entertainment recently announcing that the artbook TOXIC Vol. 1 which was scheduled be be released later this year is now cancelled. TOXIC was originally scheduled to be a two-volume collection of full-colour comics, pin-ups and international artist profiles.

The following is what the company said on their official blog post:

While every effort was made to produce this book (and on time!) unfortunately the licensing issues that delayed the book from its original release date were insurmountable, and if we had released TOXIC Volume 1 it would have been substantially different from the Korean edition with a good portion of the content removed. Because of this, we felt it would be unfair to go forward with the release for our customers expecting a faithful translation of this project.

We are still on very good terms with our Korean licensing partners and the producers of TOXIC, and our current plan is to combine the original Korean comics and illustrations from TOXIC Volume 1 and 2 into a new book, to be released in 2013, keeping it in the spirit of the originals and the fan-favourite APPLE series from which it sprung. Of course, these details have not been finalized and we won’t announce a release date until we’re confident we can hit it.

We’re very sorry that this has occurred and we will work to ensure it does not happen for future projects. We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The Staff of UDON
