Crunchyroll used its Fourth of July Anime Expo panel to announce to fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End that the series’ second season is set to begin streaming on their platform with global streaming rights (excluding Asia, but including India and the wider subcontinent). The simulcast will begin in January 2026, with new episodes releasing in step with Japan. Produced by studio Madhouse, Season 2 adapts the ongoing manga by writer Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe.
The announcement took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, where Japanese voice actor Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark), producer Yuichiro Fukushi, and composer Evan Call shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes from Season 1 and teased what lies ahead. Fukushi also named Tomoya Kitagawa as Season 2’s director. Kitagawa contributed storyboards and episode direction to the first season, while Keiichiro Saito returns in the newly created role of Supervising Director.
Additional staff appointments and/or continuations include:
- Assistant Director Daiki Harashina (takt op. Destiny)
- Series Composition Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man)
- Character Design leads Takasemaru (Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima (100 Meters), and Yuri Fujinaka (key animation on SPY x FAMILY CODE: White)
- Concept Art Seiko Yoshioka (background art on Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo)
- Music composer Evan Call, continuing his work from Season 1
