The culmination of an ongoing engagement with the MLB is set to come to head at the end of the week. At Boston’s Fenway Park, a Monkey D. Luffy character mascot will throw the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Boston Red Sox game on 3 May 2025. The event will mark the first time a One Piece character mascot has taken part in a ceremonial pitch. The occasion is part of the Boston Red Sox x One Piece Theme Day, a collaboration between Toei Animation and the Boston Red Sox. This year’s event sold out very quickly, attracting 6,300 anime fans to attend Fenway Park this coming weekend to celebrate the popular anime series.
Those who purchased tickets through the official Red Sox website will receive commemorative merchandise created in partnership with Toei Animation. General Admission ticketholders will receive an exclusive Red Sox x One Piece baseball jersey, while VIP ticketholders will receive both the jersey and a matching baseball cap. Before the game, attendees can participate in a range of fan experiences, including a fan meet-up, photo opportunities with Luffy and Chopper character mascots, and a demo session for the One Piece Card Game.
