Aniplex of America and Crunchyroll have announced that Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will return to cinemas across the United States, Canada, and select international territories on 14 May 2025. The re-release will present the anime film in 4K for the first time. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute screenings in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed formats. Tickets will go on sale from Wednesday 30 April 2025, with local listings to confirm specific sessions.
Initially released in 2020, Mugen Train is set immediately after the events of the anime’s first season. The film follows Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke as they board the Mugen Train alongside Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku to investigate the mysterious disappearance of over 40 passengers. What begins as a routine mission soon transforms into a life-and-death struggle against a formidable demonic threat. The 4K re-release sets out to allow fans to revisit the film ahead of the upcoming cinematic continuation of the franchise. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle, the first in a three-part trilogy which also serves as the conclusion to the anime adaptations of Koyoharu Gotouge’s original 23-volume manga works, is scheduled to premiere in theatres across the United States and Canada on 12 September 2025.
