Japanese music group Mrs. GREEN APPLE, which encompasses Motoki Ohmori, Hiro Wakai and Ryoka Fujisawa, are performing the opening theme song for TV anime Oblivion Battery, which has in recent days commenced airing in Japan and is based on the baseball sports manga series written and illustrated by Eko Mikawa.
Shortly after the first episode went live, the band shared the music video for the song, titled Lilac, via their official Youtube channel. The video features band members Motoki Ohmori, Hiroto Wakai, and Ryoka Fujisawa portraying students, a setting that recalls their music video for “Speaking” from eight years earlier. In addition to the school setting, Ohmori embodies multiple personas throughout the video, including a teacher, café worker, mechanic, janitor, police officer, firefighter, produce clerk, fishmonger, florist, childcare worker, and a secondhand clothing store employee. Wakai and Fujisawa also take on additional roles, with Wakai appearing as a barber and taxi driver, and Fujisawa as a traffic controller and carpenter. The video culminates in a scene that unites all fifteen roles portrayed by the band members. It is most certainly a fun music video, and can also be watched with subtitles:
The song is also available as a single on music streaming websites including iTunes, RecoChoku, Apple Music, LINE MUSIC, and Spotify. A full list of links to each streaming platform can be found HERE.
Oblivion Battery airs on the TV Tokyo network every Tuesday at midnight. While availability may differ depending on where you reside, Prime Video will offer streaming following the broadcast.
