New Key Artwork and 3rd Trailer Released for Ragna Crimson Ahead of Next Month’s One Hour Debut

Pitched as a Dark Fantasy of “Dragons” vs “Humans” on an Epic Scale, Ragna Crimson is is set to commence in the incoming Fall 2023 Japanese anime season, and is based on the original manga work created by Daiki Kobayashi. It has been announced that the first episode will debut on 30 September 2023 as part of a one-hour special, with this news being complemented by the release of new assets – including a third trailer, key visual and more information.

The newly released key visual shows the protagonists Ragna and Crimson in front with rivals Ultimatia and Woltekamui looming in the back. The concept behind the visual is to evoke “a strong dark fantasy taste with characters that seem seconds before zooming into battle”.

The new trailer, viewable above, showcases Woltekamui, one of the stronger enemies voiced by Junichi Suwabe, in addition to other dragons, alongside the slime voiced by Fairouz Ai. This trailer also debuts the show’s opening theme, ‘ROAR’ by ulma sound junction.

There will also be a premiere screening and a talk show by the cast at Shinjuku Piccadilly, a theater in Tokyo, on Saturday 9/2. The full one-hour episode will be shown, followed by a talk show including Chiaki Kobayashi, who plays Ragna, and Ayumu Murase, who plays Crimson. The event is an opportunity to enjoy the long-awaited first episode before anybody else, and hear some happenings at the voice recordings. Pre-orders have started on Lawson Ticket, so for those who may find themselves in Japan on this date, see if you can nab yourself a ticket.

Based on the original work by Daiki Kobayashi, Ragna Crimson is being directed by Ken Takahashi, with character designs by Shimpei Aoki, scriptwriting by Deko Akao, art direction by Asuka Komiyama, music by Koji Fujimoto and Osamu Sasaki, and animation from the team at SILVER LINK.
