Let the Seven Catgirls of Nekomeikan Pleasure Your Ears With Relaxing ASMR

For the last month and a half, audio entertainment group Candy Voice has partnered up with a variety of Japanese voice actors to create an ongoing narrative through the Necogurashi ASMR audio series. Each episode involves a different catgirl residing within the Nekomeikan, an inn located on a world between worlds. The girl who wins over the favour of the “Chosen One” (aka. You) will be selected as shrine maiden and be granted the opportunity to be reincarnated on Earth.

The Necogurashi series makes use of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) techniques which have become popular in recent years. Some describe it as offering a relaxing, sedative sensation which starts at the scalp and works its way down the body, and caused by auditory or visual stimuli (in this case, the former).

Each story, while only available in Japanese, comes in at two hours in length and involves an array of ASMR sounds such as ear cleaning, hand cream massages and oil body massages. Although this doesn’t have any impact on myself, I know many who do find such sounds pleasurable. Episode 1: The Calico Cat Girl and the Sound of a Bell

The first episode features Calico Cat (CV. Sumire Uesaka). Around three hours in length, it is a new type of audio tale that combines a story with pleasant ASMR sounds such as ear cleaning and cat toys created by a talented sound production team.

White Cat (CV. Ayana Taketatsu)

A ladylike cat girl. Although kind and gentle, she is also a cunning strategist. However, she’s a pure girl at heart, and you may catch flashes of her innocence. She doesn’t usually open up around others, but in front of people she trusts, she’ll let her guard down and act affectionately.

Episode 3: A Peaceful Time with the Black Cat Girl

Black Cat (CV. Rikako Aida)

A quiet cat who speaks casually, like a close friend. She’s fond of jokes and funny stories. Her Tomboyish speech and casual demeanor mean that she doesn’t come across as overly feminine, but her facial expressions and body language can be curiously coquettish. Given her easy going nature, it can be difficult to tell what she’s really thinking, but she’s kind-hearted and values her friends. She’s the type of cat girl who can chat easily with any of her classmates, which sometimes leads to misunderstandings!

Siamese Cat Girl (CV. Ai Kayano)

A calm cat with the maturity of an older sister. She’s slightly on the tall side and very open-minded. Her speech is gentle, with a slow, drawn out feel to it. She also loves to slack off, so she’s an expert when it comes to relaxing. In fact, her languid way of speaking often makes people think that her laziness is going to rub off on them! She finds spending time with other people (cats) a hassle and avoids them if possible. The exception is Black Cat, who tends to be a bit of a busybody. Siamese Cat often gets a little exasperated with Black Cat but appreciates her all the same.

An outspoken, older sister type cat. She comes across as sensual and experienced. However, her feelings tend to show on her face, allowing you glimpses of a cute side beneath. She can be clumsy with people and often oversteps boundaries accidentally.

Persian Cat (CV: Minami Tsuda) is a fluffy princess cat. She has lived overseas for a long time, so she sometimes struggles to express herself in Japanese. However, she is extremely devoted. Perhaps worryingly so. When Persian Cat says, “I’m very good at massage, you know? Tonight, I’m going to enjoy watching your sleeping face…♪” you’re getting some rest & relaxation whether you’re looking for it or not!

The Cat Goddess (CA: Noriko Hidaka) is the young proprietress of Nekomeikan. She’s the one responsible for putting the protagonist in their current predicament, but she isn’t evil. She’s also the one who invited the other heroines to Nekomeikan. Supposedly, she harbors a great secret. Please enjoy Noriko Hidaka’s performance as the Cat Goddess!
