Celebrate Studio Ghibli Film Festival Enters Final Week in Australia and New Zealand

The directors, animators and other creative team members of the acclaimed Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli, have brought us many memorable stories over the years. Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment have celebrated all 22 of their feature films this past month by hosting their first ever Studio Ghibli film festival – known as Celebrate Studio Ghibli.

Starting from August 24 with the opening night screenings of My Neighbor Totoro (in select venues), cinemas across the country have been regularly screening works out of the Studio Ghibli library in both English and Japanese. While pretty much all of these films are available on DVD and Blu-ray nowadays, having attended a few of these screenings myself, there is something special about watching some of the older works on the big screen.

If you feel like attending Celebrate Studio Ghibli, there is not long to go until the festival concludes. All participating cinemas across the country are expected to end the festival on September 20 2017, giving you approximately 1 week to catch the films.

Each cinema is likely to have different sessions, so if interested, I recommend visiting the official Celebrate Studio Ghibli website, and choose the name of your closest cinema under the heading “Participating Cinemas”.
