English Voice Cast Confirmed for The Asterisk War as Home Video Release Looms

-

After simulcasting The Asterisk War as of October 2015, Aniplex of America have begun preparations to release the anime series to the home video market starting September this year. As one might already expect from the company, this 12-episode first season will not be released as a season collection, but two half-season volumes over 2016. Available exclusively on Blu-ray with no DVD collection in the works, both Standard and Limited Edition sets will be available for both volumes.

Volume 1 will be available starting September 20 2016, priced at $114.98 (LE) and $74.98 (SE). Containing Episodes 1-6, viewers will receive a small assortment of on-disc goodies including web previews and textless OP/ED/Prologue sequences. Those who purchase the Limited Edition will also nab themselves illustration post cards, a deluxe booklet and a soundtrack Remix CD “The Asterisk War Infusion Mix #1” by composer Rasmus Faber.

Volume 2 will then be headed to store shelves on November 22 2016, similarly priced to the first volume. Containing the next six episodes (7-12), this volume seems to be slightly lighter on on-disc extras, and comes with similar bonus goodies for the Limited Edition. This will presumably be followed by third and fourth volumes in 2017.

Aniplex of America have also confirmed that The Asterisk War will receive an English dub alongside the original Japanese audio. The core voice cast includes Erik Scott Kimerer as Ayato Amagiri, Kira Buckland as Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, Erika Harlacher as Claudia Enfield, Sarah Anne Williams as Saya Sasamiya, Brianna Knickerbocker as Kirin Toudou, Max Mittelman as Eishiro Yabuki, Patrick Seitz as Lester MacPhail, Cassandra Lee Morris as Ernesta Kuhne, Cristina Vee as Camilla Pareto, Michelle Ruff as Haruka Amagiri, Kyle McCarley as Silas Norman, Vic Mignogna as Randy Hooke, Lucien Dodge as Shuman Sakon, Cherami Leigh as Fan Xinglou, Vic Mignogna as Ernest Fairclough, Kaiji Tang as Dirk Eberwein, Johanna Luis as Kyouko Yatsuzaki and Richard Epcar as Kouichiro Toudou. These cast members will be directed by Chris Cason.

Based on the original light novel by Yuu Miyazaki, The Asterisk War is an anime adaptation directed by Manabu Ono. It features animation by A-1 Pictures, and a soundtrack by Swedish DJ and producer Rasmus Faber.
