Sentai Filmworks Acquires Rights to Anime Adaptation of Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless (Also known as Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge | 田中くんはいつもけだるげ) has its origins as an ongoing slice-of-life comedy manga series written by Nozomi Uda. Later this month, an anime adaptation of the series animated by Silver Link is set to begin airing in Japan. Adding another title to their line-up for this current season of anime, North American anime publisher Sentai Filmworks have confirmed that they now hold the regional rights to Tanaka-kun is Always Listless.

This series is set to be an unconventional, surrealest comedy which follows an exhausted high school boy who, despite multiple attempts from his friends, still manages to spectacularly… sleep. Much to the chagrin of the energetic (at times bossy) Ohta, Tanaka is often found in a blissful state of lethargy, possessing the ability to doze off in any situation, especially in mid-sentence.

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless is being directed by Shinya Kawatsura (Kokoro Connect, Non Non Biyori), who is joined by Akemi Omode (Get Backers, Tales of the Abyss) with series composition and Haruko Iizuka (Inu x Boku: Secret Service) behind character designs.

Sentai Filmworks have Tanaka-kun is Always Listless lined up as part of their Spring 2016 simulcast line-up, so expect distribution via select digital video-on-demand services soon.
