After being delayed a couple of months, Madman Entertainment are set to finally release The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki on DVD and Blu-ray in less than a fortnight. The Australian anime publisher have recently released a new trailer, highlighting small snippets of each film in the collection, each being a small part of Hayao Miyazaki’s highly successful career in the anime industry.
The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki contains the following films: Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo and The Wind Rises. Be mindful that this isn’t ‘The Collected Works of Studio Ghibli’, and therefore does not contain projects worked on by other Studio Ghibli members such as Arietty and Whisper of the Heart. It is unknown if Madman will ever release a comparable set.
Priced at $274.95 AUD for the DVD set and $324.95 AUD for the Blu-ray set, this is not a cheap set to simply go out to the store and buy. That being said, those who do purchase it will also receive a limited edition box to store everything in, a bonus disc full of extra features and a couple of other goodies as specified in this image but not described in detail by Madman just yet.
