While anime fans will almost certainly be able to pick up Fate/Stay night as part of a cheaper collection in the future, Aniplex of America have announced that they will be distributing Fate/stay night (Unlimited Blade Works) – Blu-ray Disc Box I, a more expensive set for the series imported from Japan.
This collection will feature the first thirteen episodes of Fate/stay night (Unlimited Blade Works), all subtitled in English across five discs. This will be launched simultaneously with the box set release in Japan, and will also include new footage that to date has not been aired. The release date is currently set at March 25th 2015.
The set will include the entire first season “uncut,” the trailer collection, a TV Spot Collection, and the textless opening and ending. Bonus extras include an exclusively written novel by the Fate original creator Kinoko Nasu (with illustrations by Takashi Takeuchi), a soundtrack CD and a 50-page deluxe booklet featuring staff interviews, production materials and more. This collection will be encased in an exclusive box featuring Takeshi Takeuchi’s art and special Digipack to hold the discs.
Purchasing through Aniplex of America’s official retailers will also net purchasers an English translation booklet for the deluxe booklet. Of course, you will want all the goodies you can get considering that this set comes with an SRP of $498.98 USD. This is ultimately one of the most expensive anime sets I have ever seen during my time in the anime industry… and I will personally be waiting until the usual <$100 USD edition is released in the next few years.
