While Siren Visual may not have held a panel during last weekends Supanova on the Gold Coast, this doesn’t mean that the anime publisher doesn’t have any new acquisitions under their belt. Despite focusing their attention on Monster (As awesome as it is), their live action films / documentaries and complete collection releases so far this year, they are also planning on bringing a number of new anime titles during 2014, as evidenced by these three new acquisitions.
For the keen eyed attendees at Supanova Gold Coast, one of these acquisitions would have already been known, while the other two are brand new, however not all that surprising.
The Devil Is a Part Timer
Hataraku Maou-sama! / はたらく魔王さま!
Foiled by a hero when he’s inches away from conquering the world, the devil finds himself in modern-day Tokyo. With no real-world skills to speak of, the devil is forced to make ends meet flipping burgers at a fast food joint! To stall any further plans of world domination, the hero tracks the devil’s trail and takes on the lowly tasks of a telemarketer.
Satan flips burgers and serves post-mix soft drink in this surprise hit of 2013. We’re bringing it to DVD and Blu-ray in 2014. This was THE series of last April’s crop of anime which we are very proud to present to Oz/NZ fans.
Queen’s Blade Rebellion
クイーンズブレイド リベリオン
Power corrupts, and it when it appears that the once noble Queen Claudette’s ways have turned to oppression and heretical persecution, it’s up to a new generation of warriors to step up to the plate armor to bear arms and bare their naked fury in open rebellion! The odds may seem unfairly stacked in favor of the Amazonian ranks of the queen, doubly supported by her power of writ and assassins. But the incredible wits and assets of the dazzling array of daring damsels willing to risk their gorgeous skins and put their lithesome bodies on line against her, might just expose a few unexpected weaknesses in the queen’s support!
The third season. We couldn’t resist and don’t pretend you don’t love it! Available June. DVD only.
Chihayafuru Season 2
ちはやふる 2
Now in their second year of high school, Chihaya and her friends share all the fun and worries that come with welcoming underclassmen to the team as they face tough rival schools. The passion of the Mizusawa Karuta Club burns hotter than ever, but with the same refreshing, youthful mood carrying over from the first season.
It’s happening! If you fell in love with Chihaya last year, get ready for a second round of giddiness when the karuta master returns for a second season.
This will be DVD only, but still 100% cool.
