Madman Entertainment’s Internal Short Shorts Film Festival Winner – The Unfulfilled Working Life of Minami Umeda

-

After going through a visual novel I am sometimes left wondering about what happens to the characters lives after the story being told comes to a close. Apparently Minami Umeda (宇目田 深波) from Navel’s adult visual novel Marriage Royale moved to Australia and took up a job at anime publisher Madman Entertainment.

While mostly known for their anime releases, the company is also a publisher of international and local television shows and short films. This seems to have enticed the company to hold their first annual “Madman Short Shorts Film Festival” as an internal competition for staff. This led one team of staff dubbed “Team Anime” (Jon Asquith, Adrian Burke, Linda Dwyer, Hugh Davies, Michelle Yencken and Lawrence Fung) to put together the above short detailing Minami Umeda’s “unfulfilled” working life at the company with a rather saddening ending.

It sounds like quite a fun competition for staff, and as it turns out this film managed to come first place in the company.
