Madman Entertainment Launch Pre-Orders for Their October 2013 Anime Release Slate

While there are four dedicated publishers of anime to the Australian region, Madman Entertainment usually take the charge in terms of quantity. This has not changed for the month of October 2013 with the company opening pre-orders for a sizable collection of titles.

Ranging from new releases such as Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II, dubbed versions of former subtitled releases such as Blue Exorcist or even the childhood classic Samurai Pizza Cats – there should be something in the mix that will capture your interest. Irrespective of title all of these can be picked up from retailers and the Madman Online Store from the 16th October 2013.

Unlike Madman Entertainment’s subtitled only release which were half-season releases, following the North American release plans they have to pull a “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” or “K-ON!” and release the series in four episode installments. No plans for half-season / complete series releases of Blue Exorcist (Bilingual Edition) have been confirmed.

This follows on from a similar complete series DVD release from Madman Entertainment all the way back in February 2007. Looking at the special features on the disc it is set to come with an additional compilation of on-disc extras alongside a 40-page Collector’s Booklet.

The story is set on Okinawa’s isolated island of Iwado, which has seen a growing movement advocating a return to an autonomous government. Ao Fukai, a 13-year-old boy with a missing father, lives on the island with an old doctor named Toshio and is about to enter middle school. Ao’s mother was taken away a decade ago by unknown individuals. Naru Arata, Ao’s 13-year-old childhood friend and the story’s heroine, lives with her father, older sister, and grandmother. She has a “Yuta” power awakened within her due to an incident when she was young. A mysterious entity called “Secret” suddenly appears and launches an attack on the Scub Coral lifeform on the island. Ao launches a certain military FP called “Nirvash” aboard a Japanese military transport in his fervent desire to protect the island.

Yozora’s an abrasive loudmouth whose only friend at school is imaginary. She knows she’s difficult – which makes her better off than Kodoka, a new transfer student who picked up an undeserved bad reputation the second he stepped on campus. Inspired by their shared status as social catastrophes, the two loners unite and start the Neighbors Club, an organization dedicated to finding other misfits and making friends.

In no time, a third member joins their ranks: Sena, a pretty, popular rich girl who annoys Yozora to no end. With Kodoka in the middle of the chaos, the brash brunette and the blonde boy-magnet go ’round and ’round, even as the Neighbors Club begins to grow. Hopefully, the girls can get past their rivalry, because sometimes the friendship you’re looking for is right in front of you, and sometimes the best friends are the friends you never even wanted.
