Many projects get added to the Kickstarter crowd-funding service every week – some manage to get the required funds pledged, some don’t manage to and some manage to exceed their initial targets by a sizable amount. Pied Piper, DIRECTIONS and Studio Rikka took to the service to promote an upcoming planned release of Time of EVE: The Movie and walked away with more than they had planned. An initial goal of $18,000 ended up being extended by almost 12x for an overall total pledged of $215,433.

While some of the pledge tiers have been listed with an estimated delivery of January 2014, it still looks like the blu-ray exclusive release is still estimated to be available in October 2013. While worldwide distribution is still a mystery (Currently the official website only lists the US, UK and Europe), the blu-ray will be region-free and thus importable irrespective of where you reside. It has also been confirmed that NYAV Post will be behind the series’ English dub who have been behind the ADR Production of quite a few anime films including Berserk: The Golden Age Arc and 009 Re:Cyborg. If you don’t want to listen to the English dub, there will be the Japanese dub with an array of subtitles including English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Other bonus features (Also with bilingual subtitles) will include interviews with the main cast and director Yoshiura Yasuhiro.

Below are specifics on what the blu-ray release will entail, sourced from the Kickstarter campaigns official website:

  • Time of EVE: The Movie, with subtitles in English.
  • Subtitles in French, Italian, German and Spanish too!
  • With English-language dub!
  • We will also include bonus features with interviews of the main cast and director Yoshiura Yasuhiro. We are still looking through our video archives to see what we include.
  • The bonus features will also be subtitled in French, Italian, German and Spanish.
  • 40-page art book (we are really excited about this!) (in English only)
  • For those who purchase this Blu-ray through the Kickstarter campaign, each Blu-ray will include 8 postcards of the characters. This is the complete set of postcards, and is an exclusive for this Kickstarter campaign!
  • The Blu-ray will be released in the US and the UK (with British Board of Film Classification rating).
  • UK residents please select  “US shipping” so you don’t get charged for international shipping!!!
  • The Blu-ray will be region free

Either way, it is very refreshing to see another successful Kickstarter campaign, and I look forward to covering this title further up until launch, wrapped up of course with a review!
