Madman Entertainment to Also Hold Theatrical Release of From up on Poppy Hill (English Version) in Brisbane

-

image001Following their Reel Anime event held earlier this year, Madman Entertainment recently announced they would be screening the English dubbed version of Studio Ghibli’s ‘From Up on Poppy Hill’ from the 20th December at Cinema Nova (Victoria), Dendy Newtown (New South Wales), Dendy Canberra (Australian Capital Territory) and Luna Leederville (Western Australia). For the sake of this post none of these specifics have changed.

But fans in Queensland might have been a tad disappointed in finding out that unlike Reel Anime they had been passed over for the companies English language premiere. Fortunately this has all changed with Madman Entertainment today announcing Dendy Portside in Brisbane would be screening the film.

Set in Yokohama in 1963, this lovingly hand-drawn film centers on Umi (voiced by Sarah Bolger, Once Upon A Time) and Shun (voiced by Anton Yelchin, Star Trek) and the budding romance that develops as they join forces to save their high school’s ramshackle clubhouse from demolition.

The English language version also features the voices of Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies), Beau Bridges (The Fabulous Baker Boys), Ron Howard (American Graffiti), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Bruce Dern (Big Love) and many more.
