Following their announcement that they will be holding one-day only (9th December 2012) screenings for both films currently released for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment have released this brief preview trailer highlighting some of the content which will be included in the releases.
Unlike the third film which has yet to be released anywhere in the world, the first two films revisit and retell the episodes contained in the anime series.
PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA follows the story of a young girl named Madoka Kaname. One fateful day, Madoka is offered the opportunity to gain magical powers if she agrees to make a contract with a strange little being known as a Kyubey. The Kyubey will also grant Madoka one wish, but in exchange she shall risk her life by accepting the responsibility of fighting witches. Little does Madoka know the real risks of what this contract has in-store for her.
The not-so-typical story of Madoka Kaname and her choice to become a ‘magical girl’ has taken the world by storm – becoming one of the most loved anime properties of 2011/2012. Part 1 and Part 2 of the MADOKA MAGICA movies retell the plot of the original TV series, and will provide a fantastic experience for both fans who have enjoyed the TV series or those who are just seeing it for the first time.
Unfortunately the theatrical releases will be only held in four cinemas – leaving the rest of us to wait until 2013 for a planned DVD and Blu-ray release. The cinemas you can now purchase tickets from are as follows:
MELBOURNE – Cinema Nova, Carlton 3pm
SYDNEY – Dendy Newtown 2pm
CANBERRA – Dendy Canberra 2pm
BRISBANE – Dendy Portside 2pm
